Shunde Expo 2016 gets thumbs up from industry

Hailed as “Asia’s Best Trading Platform for Household Appliances”, the China Shunde International Exposition for Household Electrical Appliances (Shunde Expo) came to a spirited close recently in China’s manufacturing hub of Guangzhou. This year’s event took place at the HC Appliance City from its usual site for the last 15 years as part of the organizers’ plan for further relocation to a permanent venue next year. However, the smaller venue during this transition period did not seem to dampen the industry’s enthusiasm as some 661 exhibitors turned up in full force to showcase their products.

28,664 visitors were drawn to the annual meeting. Among them, 502 were from abroad.

Phoenix Hall critically acclaimed

Attracting the eyeballs of all visitors was undoubtedly the new addition to this edition – the Phoenix Hall. Packed with a slew of value added services, such as an exclusive lounge, seminar area, media center, discussion areas, and mobile phone charging stations, the hall featured interactive activities and complimentary beverages at the lounge to maximize the participation experience of exhibitors and visitors alike.

An impressive line-up of participating companies included appliance giants Midea, Daikin, Vanward, Macro, Galanz, Canbo, Whirlpool, TCL, Changhong and Skyworth. Other brands with a booth presence included Mingjian, Gales, Usaton , Weking, Visda, Hotata, STARION, Bock, Citin, Supor, Impower, Rota, HSD, Wanzhou, OUBER, Homa, Entive, Eupa, Golux, Longde, Little Duck, AbleCloud, KSS, OncQue, KST, Clouds Robot, Stai, Leeper, IngDan and ZANASI, providing a one-stop sourcing platform suiting buyers of all business needs.

Smart living takes center stage

In addition to being a massive showcase and sourcing platform, Shunde Expo has also become a gathering place for new products, technologies and information. During the exhibition, a series of insightful forum sessions received raving response by the industry. On the opening day, a smart appliances summit entitled Smart Future saw the gathering of hundreds of renowned representatives from across the entire value chain in the smart appliances field, such as service providers, platform providers, investors, distributors and manufacturers to examine the development trend of smart appliances.

At the subsequent roundtable session, IngDan’s director of technology department, Wen Dong; Midea’s strategic operations director, Xue Guodong; Ayla Networks’ Account Director, Xiong Ying as well as general manager of Shishen Network, He Yizhi and vice president of Changhong, Yu Wenjun got together to explore the breakthroughs of smart appliances and discuss standardized implementation solutions for the smart home industry.

At the forum entitled The Birth Of A High-Quality Small Appliance, former design director of Haier’s small appliances division, Gao Chao, shed light on how to add value to small appliances through optimizing design to increase profit margin of the products.

Smart technology is driving the technological innovation of the appliance industry. In alignment with this trend, AbleCloud’s vice president for sales, Sun Dongbo, mentioned during his IoT Cloud Platform Facilitates Smart Home Energy-saving Innovation forum: "Real smart devices should possess the ability to think, and only after the device really learns to think can it liberate people from the tedious work in managing the equipment."

“As one of Koelnmesse’s important projects in South China, we have always been committed to nurturing the event to be a top-notch sourcing and showcase platform for the home appliances industry since taking over its management in 2008, leveraging our years of experience in the exhibition industry. While striving towards this goal, I am very pleased to see domestic appliance enterprises making it to international markets through Shunde Expo,” noted Michael Dreyer, Vice President Asia-Pacific of Koelnmesse GmbH.

Mr Han of Midea Dishwasher Manufacturing said: “The main goal of our participation is to promote our dishwashers to the domestic market. Currently, the demand for dishwashers in China is increasingly apparent, so the market has great potential. We’ve always been devoted to the research and development of dishwashers, and this is the first time we’re showcasing dishwasher products independently.

“The Shunde household appliance manufacturing industry is very famous in China. In addition, the event is near our factory. The relocation of Shunde Expo from Daliang to Beijiao presents even more geographical advantages for Midea. Due to the transitional period, this year’s event is smaller in scale, but overall, we are still pleased with it,” he added.

“Our pavilion location is very good this year. There were more visitors on the first day of the event, and our member companies have made contact with some effective buyers. We’ve been exhibiting at Shunde Expo for several years and have always felt that the organizers are great in all aspects,” said Cony Huang, Mainland Affairs Department, Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association.

DAIKIN Fluoro Coatings’ Jin Xin commented: “This year's Shunde Expo is better. Not only did we attract new customers, we also had in-depth exchange with our existing customers. The exhibition venue in Beijiao is near several manufacturers we are working with, which makes communication more convenient. We held a forum in Phoenix Hall and invited our customers to attend. The organizers have provided a great platform. We are based in Shanghai and hope that customers can have a deeper impression of our company through the event.”
