Shunde Expo opens for 15th year running

The 15th China International Exposition for Household Electrical Appliances (Shunde Expo) opens today in Shunde, Guangdong to an expectant trade. This year’s event spans nearly 50,000 square meters and features about 700 exhibitors, showcasing innovative products, and cutting-edge designs and technology. The three-day trade fair is expected to attract more than 30,000 domestic and international visitors.

Exhibitors from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan are featured prominently, with the Taiwan Pavilion, led by the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association, occupying a record area in this edition. Renowned brands present include Midea, Canbo, Vanward, Whirlpoor, Macro, Mingjian, RONGSHENG, KARCHER, Konka, Weili, Donlim, WH Group, HSD, Leptis, Beke, Citin, and Weber.

“Shunde Expo has been held for 15 editions, and, in this time, has achieved great success and won a good reputation. The event has not only witnessed the rapid development of China's home appliance industry, but also energized the home appliances trade. With China's economy entering a "new normal", Shunde Expo will bring about new opportunities and a new momentum for the transformation and upgrading of the domestic home appliance enterprises,” said Michael Dreyer, Vice President, Asia Pacific, Koelnmesse GmbH – event co-organizer – during the opening ceremony.

Adding more buzz to the event is a series of concurrent activities to provide visitors every opportunity for the exchange of ideas with like-minded industry insiders.

Taking place this morning is the second edition of the HC Home Appliance City Service Provider Assembly as well as the announcement of HC’s five-year development strategy, while the afternoon session will spotlight the purified water business, featuring innovative exhibits, and also the National Purified Water Engineer Forum.

To better aid companies access foreign markets and grasp their regulatory requirements, the SGS North America Certification and Smart Home Forum will be held tomorrow alongside Shunde Expo 2015. Senior experts from internationally renowned certification service provider, SGS, will host the event.

To top off the Shunde Expo experience, visitors also stand to walk away with exclusive Mercedes-Benz-branded premiums.

According to data from the China Household Electrical Appliances Association and the National Bureau of Statistics, China's home appliance industry achieved a total annual profit of 93.16 billion yuan, up 18.4 percent compared with the last year. Revenue reached 1.41 trillion yuan, an increase of 10 percent. Industry exports over the same period totaled 58.1 billion US dollars, a 5.2 percent bump, of which, exports of large home appliances was valued at 23.1 billion US dollars, and 25.9 billion US dollars for small home appliances. Exports for related parts amounted to 9.1 billion US dollars.

Today, sizable electrical appliance enterprises in Shunde account for 15 percent of the total output value across the entire China. Shunde is not only the country's largest air conditioner, refrigerator, water heater and sterilizing cabinet production base, but also the world's biggest supplier for rice cookers and microwave ovens.
