Asia’s top home appliances trade fair closes on high note

Shunde, China /Aug. 26, 2013

The China Shunde International Exposition for Household Electrical Appliances (Shunde Expo) closed recently in its namesake city to much success. This was against the backdrop of a challenging first six months of the year for the home appliances industry brought about by the slowing China and international economy.

The combined event spanned 50,000 square-meters and featured more than 700 home appliance makers and suppliers as well as over 100 Chinese and international renowned industrial design firms. Brands like Midea, Panasonic, Macro, Vanward, Galanz, Mingqi, TCL, Rongsheng and Donlim have taken full advantage of this mega gathering and unveiled new products at the show.

Wang Sanxia, Sales Manager, Macro said: “This year’s Shunde Expo has been great for us and we’ve come across trade customers from all over China, such as Beijing, Shandong and Hainan. At the same time, it can be seen that many renowned brands have attached great importance to this event... Our company had a product launch event, which generated excellent results.”

“Shunde Expo is a brand and I’ve seen a lot of foreign businessmen coming to Shunde every year specially for this event… and I think this is a very successful show. This year’s visitor traffic is good and we’ve also seen a lot of new launches from fellow industry players. Overall, we’re very satisfied with the event,” noted Li Yuejuan, Sales Manager, Shunde Office, Hisense Kelon.

Agreeing on the visitor quality, Mingqi’s planning manager, Cai Yi added: “We’ve been a long-term supporter of Shunde Expo, one of the reasons being that many agents visit the show and our target audience is more concentrated. The MQ brand has received excellent response at the event and Shunde Expo is an ideal trading platform for enterprises.”

Over 60,000 visitors browsed the broad array of exhibits with a clear goal - to seek out the best products most suited to their respective markets.

Among them was Chengdu dealer Li Xianping who primarily targets second and third-tier cities: “[I am] mainly looking at new products and the desired brands [to represent].”

Group participation for exhibitors and visitors alike this year was one of the major highlights. Featured at Shunde Expo 2013 were Chinese regional pavilions from Zhejiang province and Lianjiang as well as a buyer delegation of the top 100 sourcing houses from China.

The China Shunde Industrial Design Expo spotlighted product design and innovations with the inaugural China Design Awards and the Shunde Industrial Design Competition, which drew the participation of more than 6,000 designers.

The event revolved around the theme of building up design talents, promoting integration of design and appliance manufacturing, demonstrating creative strength and accelerating the value-added transformation of the appliance industry from "production" to "creation".

In addition, an entire hall was dedicated to creativity, showcasing original product designs from China, international design services, outstanding works of small home appliance concepts, an e-Commerce experience zone and workshops on the application of advanced materials for industrial products.

“For the past 12 years, Shunde Expo has grown to become one of the largest trade fair for the home appliances industry in Asia and a gateway for overseas brands to penetrate the China market.” noted Michael Dreyer, Vice President Asia-Pacific, Koelnmesse, co-organizer of Shunde Expo.

Zhao Weiguo, Vice President, China Industrial Design Association said: “Incorporating a design event into a household appliances trade fair is more than just resource portfolio optimization. It also plays a guiding role to the overall supporting services for high-end products.”

The event is jointly organized by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, the China Industrial Design Association, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Guangdong Province Committee, The People’s Government of Shunde and Koelnmesse.
