Shunde Expo reaffirms position as Asia’s top home appliances trade fair

The 12th China Shunde International Exposition for Household Electrical Appliances (Shunde Expo) concluded recently to enthusiastic response from the industry with 447 exhibitors and a total of 29,256 visitors from around the world gathering on the 30,000-square meter trade floor over four days. This visitor figure is a rise of 15 percent from the year before.

There was yet another important and heartening observation - the ending of nationwide demand boosting policies did not dampen the mood of the home appliances trade. Instead, Shunde Expo still proved to be a huge magnet for major home appliance and component makers both at home and abroad including Midea, Hisense Kelon, Panasonic, Macro, Vanward, Galanz, Royalstar, MQ, TCL, Rongsheng, Canbo, Hengye, USATON, Xinbao, Zhongshan Hannover, Guangdong Shenzhou, Heavy Power and KSS (both from Taiwan).

This year also saw first-timers such as Wanlida and Aichen from China and SBOK from Germany debuting at the Selections hall.

And exhibitors did not hold back in expressing their delight at the success of the show.

“Shunde Expo has provided an excellent platform for enterprises with great success. And it is undoubtedly the best choice for expanding domestic market and seeking local trade partners,” said Mr. Zhang Hongrui, Vise-manager of Business Center, Dongling Electrical Appliances Co., Ltd. – a renowned appliance manufacturer from China.

Echoing his views was another homegrown heavyweight, Galanz. The company’s press secretary, Mr. Lu Jilie said: “The development over the past few years has been very fast for Shunde Expo and the show is considered the top fair for white goods in China. Industry practitioners need to understand the development of the industry with the help of such an event.”

Sharing his two observations at the show, Mr. Lu added: “Compared with the previous year, we can see that be it home appliance manufacturers or marketing companies, the industry is clearly trending towards the integrated kitchen concept. [Also,] the application of new electronic technology on home appliances has become broader and broader and we can see…the perfect integration of product design with new technology by various enterprises.”

The organizers’ promotional efforts targeting stores, dealers and agents in 143 second-tier cities across 27 provinces in China seemed to have paid off based on the larger contingent of buyer delegations present which answered the wishes of foreign home appliance makers in penetrating deeper into the China market.

Apart from an extensive range of showcase from hardware to related services, activities on the sidelines also drew strong participation from exhibitors and visitors alike.

Shunde Expo, being the largest in China and in Asia, doubled up as a platform for the industry to pay homage to the top performing players with the attendance of around 300 key domestic kitchen and bathroom appliance agents and retailers at the second China Home Appliances Annual Marketing Conference, Summit and Dealers’ Meeting – a collaboration with Modern Household Appliances magazine.

Sourcing events organized respectively by international trade marketing corporation GlobalMarket and one of China’s top sourcing portal, HC360.com welcomed buyer delegations from overseas and China who were eager to sniff out the latest products and best deals at the show. Business deals worth over 100 million Chinese yuan have also been concluded between first-time participant, the Shanwei Home Electrical Appliances Association and various exhibitors, further cementing Shunde Expo’s appeal in pulling in quality buyers.

The seminar program, centering on hot button issues, such as branding, the emergence of e-Commerce and Marketing 3.0, provided new perspectives and explored the overall development strategies of the future home appliance market.
