Shunde Expo returns with fanfare

The 11th China Shunde International Exposition for Household Electrical Appliances (Shunde Expo) opened Monday with much excitement and crowded halls at the Shunde Exhibition Centre in Guangdong Province.

This year, the exhibition spans 35,000 square meters featuring 509 exhibitors including well-known heavyweights and old-timers Midea, Hisense Kelon, Macro, Panasonic, Galanz, Vanward, TCL, Rongsheng, Canbo, Changhong Hopeful, Donlim, Royalstar, ROBAM, Heavy Power and KSS (both from Taiwan) as well as first-timers Korean NUC, Joyoung, Zhongshan Hannover, Guangdong Shenzhou and Shanghai Hongxin. It is understood that most of these exhibitors have been participating at Shunde Expo every year since its debut in 2001.

The comprehensive exhibition is slated to cater to every segment of the industry with six product groups forming the key pillars of the event from both Black and White Home Appliances to Water Appliances, Kitchen & Bath Appliances and Small Home Appliances to Components.

Since its first year, Shunde Expo has grown from a local event with 284 exhibitors occupying 11,000 square meters to its current scale. From its founding by the Shunde government to the joining of Koelnmesse as a co-organizer, the show has been growing, developing and reinventing itself every year. In an effort to promote Shunde Expo to a wider market in Asia and the rest of the world, show organizers have been exploring and continuously testing the market with the introduction of the Gas Appliances zone, and the Industrial Design zone which is increasingly gaining the attention of the industry.

To meet the needs of new exhibitors and satisfy the growing demand for bigger space by long-time supporters, a temporary hall (Hall 4) spanning 7,000 square meters has been erected at the parking lot north of the main exhibition hall. This hall houses the debut of the Kitchen Appliances Zone showcasing and highlighting the latest kitchen concepts and trends which at the same time serves as the ideal launchpad for introducing new products. Themed Living Kitchen, this zone shows off the integration of innovative kitchen design and technology into everyday life and the practical applications and capabilities of the products through live demonstration sessions.

An estimated 25,000 visitors are expected to descend at Shunde Expo 2011 over the next three days with a 100-buyer strong delegation from HC360.com and groups led by online B2B trading platform GlobalMarket. Various heavyweights will be procuring at Shunde Expo and meeting exhibitors face-to-face including sourcing powerhouse Carrefour and Hong Kong Electrical Appliances Manufacturers Association. Overseas individual buyers, buyer delegations as well as associations from other parts of the world including Europe, North America, Latin America, Middle East and South East Asia are also expected.

To maximize all participants' returns at the show, organizers are reportedly encouraging exhibitors and visitors alike to capitalize on the new Business Matching Service.

On the sidelines, the Touchstone Awards, lauded for its efforts to encourage and promote product innovations is back for the second year. The Awards will pay tribute to the most creative small home appliances with winning products to be displayed in halls 2 and 3.

A series of high-caliber seminars and forums spotlighting industry financing strategies, international market opportinities, cutting-edge technology and other hot button issues will be discussed among trade veterans and experts. Among them, the Capital Investment Conference for Household Electric Appliance Industry jointly hosted by Century Contact Financial Relations Limited, A&R Advertising and Koelnmesse, and the 2011 Small Household Appliance Trend Forum spearheaded by the authoritative China Household Electric Appliance Research Institute (CHEARI) are expected to draw substantial interest from delegates.

Shunde Expo is on till October 20.
